Pinterest

It doesn't matter whether you're into design or not, Pinterest is amazing.  Whether you want to categorize and remember recipes, something you want to buy, etc. - it keeps everything in one spot, and saves it by pictures which is really fun to look at.  (Browsing other people's "pins" has had me wasting a lot of time recently).  If you're confused, take a look at mine - it's addicting!

TEN Things I Want Now...

I decided this time to do a decor wish list and a fashion wish list.  Love online shopping...(well, browsing).

Kitchen Canister - Modcloth

Wire Drink Caddy and Recycled Glass Bottle Vases - West Elm

Black Chevron Bench/Footrest

Printed Essex Bench - West Elm

Nightstands.

I found these (real Lane hardwood) end tables on Craigslist and had to get them, knowing they could look great with a little work.

So I grabbed some dark wood stain and slabbed it on, and ta-da, new tables! Anyone want a pair?! (Not these; they're mine...)

Anthropologie Fleur de Lis Tumbler

West Elm Ellipse Metal Canopy Bed

Lime Mirrored Tray Table (not the blue owl!)

Our Stay in South Beach

This past weekend the boyfriend and I took a little trip to South Beach, Miami's art deco district, in celebration of my birthday (23!) and his (second) graduation.  While it wasn't my first visit to the city, it's impossible not to appreciate and marvel the architecture which invites a retro-cool feel.  We stayed at the Sanctuary, just a block off of the famous Collins Ave, whose front exterior looks like this:

It's not quite as big as the picture lets on, and while we had beautiful weather, the sky never looked quite like that! (Photoshop anyone?)  Though our hotel isn't one of the most grandiose art deco buildings in the district, its geometrical shapes definitely place it in the same category.  (On a side note, the interior of the hotel was modernly designed but not-so-nicely maintained!  The whole weekend we were talking about how they could easily "take it up a notch" - Bill's words, not mine - by investing as much time into maintenance as they did into design!)

Prettifying a Dresser

So I have this IKEA dresser, "Aneboda", and it has frosted-type (?) panels; clear but not totally transparent.  I ran to A.C. Moore and got a bunch of sheets of scrapbook paper, discovered spray adhesive glue, and put the paper on the panels!  Not totally professional looking, but kind of neat, at least to me.

This is the dresser before:

This is what I did:

Up close the design looks like this:

Fabric Ripping and Staple Gunning

Last night I started the process of reupholstering the loveseat posted a few entries ago, and it's so fun!  It's so satisfying to rip the trim off and pluck out the staples with pliers.  Also, I am now obsessed with my staple gun.. (I used it on some of the batting just to try it out).  It's great.

This is the fabric I ordered to recover the loveseat:

The color is called amethyst, and it's a microsuede. I got it at Fabric Guru.  I am also planning to use metal studs instead of trim, if it looks feasible - which means I'll have to buy a glue gun too!  So many upholstery weapons...
