Our Stay in South Beach

This past weekend the boyfriend and I took a little trip to South Beach, Miami's art deco district, in celebration of my birthday (23!) and his (second) graduation.  While it wasn't my first visit to the city, it's impossible not to appreciate and marvel the architecture which invites a retro-cool feel.  We stayed at the Sanctuary, just a block off of the famous Collins Ave, whose front exterior looks like this:

It's not quite as big as the picture lets on, and while we had beautiful weather, the sky never looked quite like that! (Photoshop anyone?)  Though our hotel isn't one of the most grandiose art deco buildings in the district, its geometrical shapes definitely place it in the same category.  (On a side note, the interior of the hotel was modernly designed but not-so-nicely maintained!  The whole weekend we were talking about how they could easily "take it up a notch" - Bill's words, not mine - by investing as much time into maintenance as they did into design!)

Prettifying a Dresser

So I have this IKEA dresser, "Aneboda", and it has frosted-type (?) panels; clear but not totally transparent.  I ran to A.C. Moore and got a bunch of sheets of scrapbook paper, discovered spray adhesive glue, and put the paper on the panels!  Not totally professional looking, but kind of neat, at least to me.

This is the dresser before:

This is what I did:

Up close the design looks like this:
